“It will be a slippery narrative composed in an unremitting continuous tense, absolute, devouring the present as it goes, all the way to the final image of a life.” Annie Ernaux "The Years"
Thanks for this Jennifer. For years, I have been meaning to read Annie Ernaux but indolence always got in the way. So, just now, I ordered "Les années" on Kindle and will start reading it tomorrow, or maybe the day after (seriously). I'm getting the original because I do not read a translation if I can possibly read the original. In addition, I love the games and jokes of l'OULIPO writers. Will you publish more notes on this? If so, I look forward to reading them.
Judy, I’m so jealous that you can read it in the original! I also read “A Simple Passion,” but this one is the one that went somewhere entirely new for me. I also listened to the audio while reading the book while walking around Paris.
Always love Paris!🥰
I enjoyed taking in these moments and pieces of art and life with you

It is great to be prodded into something new.
